We stared out buying a 7-piece wrought iron patio dining set from[@]. Even though it arrived assembled, it was rickety, scratched, dented, and battered right off the truck. That was $550.We were prepared to spend up to $2000, but we weren't in love with any sets we saw up to that amount. We liked this set for its clean lines, visual appeal, and sub-$1000 price.The set, which comes via Fedex Ground, is generally well packed. On ours, only one chair leg out of the lot lacked protection, and that leg had a long but still minor scratch. The "shatterproof" glass top had a flea bite--a tiny chip--on one end. Assembly, said the instructions, took 20 minutes. Took me two to three hours. Admittedly I am not gifted at assemblage. The time was eaten up by properly aligning the leg holes to the holes in the table (simply inserting them until they fit snuggly won't work--a flashlight is helpful in peering through the shadows to ensure the holes are aligned)and twisting the bolts with the supplied wrench. Two bolts twisted fairly easily. Two didn't. They really had to be muscled into place. Haymarket's description of the color of this resin wicker is honey. I thought maybe the beige images on screen were off. They aren't. They are accurate.This is my first experience with resin (ie, synthetic) wicker. If you look underneath the furniture, it looks like woven plastic. What you see when you stand up and sit down, though, looks like real wicker. Pleasing color, too.Real wicker has a stiff feel when you sit on it without a cushion. Resin wicker is spongy; it has a lot of elasticity. As such, custions are unnecessary. The chairs are comfortable as is. However, they seem a tad low. I suppose this is subjective. If you, like me, think they are a tad low, cushions are the solutions, although cushions aren't cheap and would considerably eat into the savings this set offers. Once the table is assembled and bolted nice and tight, it's good and sturdy. The table itself is surprisingly light. But when you put the shatterproof glass top on it, it gains substance. A half-dozen suction cups are embedded into the tabletop to keep the glass top in place, which they do admirably. The chairs, like the table, are light. If you like a weighty feel to your chairs, this is something to consider. But they look good, they look like wicker (they don't feel like wicker), and because they are light, they are easy to maneuver. The verdict: an appealing outdoor dining set at an appealing price.
